The School of Management Engineering of Qingdao University of technology can be traced back to the management department of Qingdao Institute of architectural engineering which was founded in January 1985, which is one of the earliest teaching departments of Qingdao University of Technology. With a development history of more than 30 years, our school has cultivated thousands of professional management and engineering talents, who are now playing important roles in the development of the national economy. The school now has 70 full-time teachers, among which there are 11 professors, 31 associate professors, 41 teachers with doctoral degrees, 3 postdoctors, 49 master supervisors, and 26 dual qualified teachers with professional qualifications such as registered first-class constructor and registered cost engineer. 18 teachers have been selected and sent to Britain, the United States, Germany and other countries for study visits and academic exchange activities.

The School of Management Engineering has six undergraduate majors: Engineering Cost, Engineering Management, Information Management and Information System, Real Estate Development and Management, Industrial Engineering and Logistics Management. Engineering Management includes the direction of International Engineering Project Management, and Information Management and Information System includes the direction of university-enterprise cooperation Intelligent Data Engineering. The Engineering Cost is the national first-class major construction point and the characteristic major of Shandong Province. The Engineering Management is the national first-class major construction point, the first-class major construction point and the brand major of Shandong Province. The Information Management and Information System is the national first-class major construction point. There are more than 2100 undergraduate students on campus.

The School of Management Engineering has 4 master degree authorization programs, including 1 academic master degree program in Management Science and Engineering, and 3 professional master degree programs in Engineering Management (MEM), Civil and Hydraulic Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management. There are more than 300 postgraduates students on campus.

Scientific research, both academic and applied, is the main focus of the School of Management Engineering’s development. Focusing on the real needs of discipline construction and economic development, our school combines teaching and scientific research and actively undertakes research programs at the national and provincial level, working with concerned ministries, commissions and enterprises. Our school has Shandong humanities and social sciences base - Shandong smart city construction and management research center (New think tank), China national committee on aging research base - Binhai smart elderly care collaborative innovation research base. The management science and engineering discipline is a key discipline at the university level, and the management science and engineering Research Center is a key scientific research platform at the university level.

The School of Management Engineering has made fruitful achievements in teaching and scientific research. In recent five years, it has been approved as 2 first-class courses in Shandong Province, built 17 school-level excellent courses, 6 bilingual teaching demonstration courses, published more than 30 teaching materials, 6 academic monographs, and was nominated as 2 national excellent teaching materials. It has undertaken 119 scientific research projects, including 3 at the national level and 16 at the provincial and ministerial level, with scientific research funds of more than 8.6 million yuan. Faculties of the School of Management Engineering have published many papers in academic journals domestic and abroad, in which 120 papers have been indexed by SCI, EI and ISTP. Our school and faculties has been successively awarded many honorary titles and awards at different levels such as “Advanced collective of ideological and political education in Shandong Province”, “Baosteel excellent teacher award” and “Huo Yingdong Education Foundation Young Teacher Award in Colleges and universities”.

The students of our school have made remarkable achievements in scientific and technological innovation activities. In recent years, our students have won 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes and 7 third prizes in the International Mathematical Modeling Contest, 14 national first prizes and 51 second prizes in the National Mathematical Modeling Contest, 111 provincial first prizes and 67 provincial second prizes, ranking first in our university for six consecutive years. Our college students have won 1 special prize, more than 10 first prizes and more than 50 second prizes in the National English Competition for College Students, 2 special prizes, 8 second prizes and 9 third prizes in the National MBA Training College Enterprise Competition Simulation Competition. They also have won 4 national Special prizes, 3 second prizes and 1 third prize in the National BIM Graduation Design Competition for Colleges and Universities.

In the next 5 years, our school plans to introduce high-quality educational resources from famous foreign universities and carry out Chinese-foreign cooperative education projects on engineering management to meet the different needs of students. Our school will strengthen teachers' study and training abroad, so that more teachers have the opportunity to go abroad for exchange and study. Our school will support graduate students to attend international conferences and conduct academic exchanges in famous universities or research institutes abroad. The school also plans to enroll foreign students and gradually form a certain scale of foreign students’ education.

In the new historical period, our school will thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, comprehensively carry out the fundamental task of “fostering Morality and cultivating talents”, focus on strengthening connotation construction, focus on cohesion, deepen reform, and strive to create a new situation of building a first-class, characteristic and high-level university.
